Beauchamp wins Pan-Am Championship
After recently completing a agreement to fight in the Pan- American and World Masters Jui Jitsu Championships for Team Equipe Fabricio Jui Jitsu of Rio de Janeiro Brazil, Brian Beauchamp of Mississauga Ontario held up his end of the bargain and was one of only a few Canadians to medal at the Pan-Am Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships held this past weekend in Carson, California.
After training in Florida for the month of March at Black Trunk Martial Arts in Fort Myers , Florida under BJJ Black Belt Sean Wilson. Beauchamp held up his end of the bargain by first winning Gold in the NAGA Grappling Tournament in West Palm Beach with his team mates from Black Trunks and then traveled across the country and won a Gold Medal at the Pan-Am Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Championships in Carson, California.
Beauchamp, a Toronto Firefighter, is a 3rd degree Black Belt in Judo, a BJJ Blue Belt and a former member of the Canadian National Judo Team. Brian states that "I am still growing and learning as a BJJ competitor and my time in Florida with my good friends at Black Trunks was invaluable. I realize I have a lot to learn but my time at Black Trunks and Gracie Barra in California was a step in the right direction. I will have to do better to win the Mundials in Brazil in July but the experience of competing at the Pan-Am's has got me on the right path." Brian would like to thank his family, training partners and home club, Kombat Arts Training Academy of Mississauga, and sponsors Pound for Pound MMA clothing, Dave Camarillo Jui Jitsu Gis and Fighthouse of New York.
